In the "Bois de la Gruerie" my friend Marc Calluy, who in Montfaucon ↗️ (near Verdun) lives, a grave marker from the original grave of soldier Georg Huffer.
The soldier had already been reburied at that time.
Servon-Melzicourt military cemetery
↗️, not far from Montfaucon.
In the "Bois de la Gruerie" there is a ruin of gravestones from the former IR 30. From 1943 onwards, the cemetery was no longer maintained, when all the soldiers were reburied in Servon-Melzicourt.
The family was found in Germany and Belgium, and they sent me, among other things, a picture of the original grave.
AND IN THIS PICTURE YOU CAN SEE THE PLAQUE from George's original grave, WHICH MY FRIEND MARC CALLUY FOUND 100 YEARS LATER
