The Netherlands
I have been working closely with Peter Zabel for some time now, as it turned out that our interests in the field of searches run parallel.
I am primarily looking for (missing) soldiers of all nationalities from the First and Second World Wars. After I have found the soldier, I go looking for his family to tell them the good news.
The majority of my searches concern soldiers whose dog tags were found on the former battlefields of the First World War near Verdun.
In the villages
Nantillois and
Montfaucon Two friends of mine, Maarten Otte and Marc Calluy, live there, and they regularly find identification tags in the fields and woods there.
They then send me a clear image of the ID tag, and subsequently I set to work on a search.
For example, I have already conducted (successful) searches for German, French, Belgian, and American soldiers.
I also found Dutch forced laborers and their families.
The reason for my searches lies in the fact that I want to try to transform the sadness of the past a little into some joy in the present.
